We celebrate families every day at Family Builders. And this time of year is a special time to appreciate fathers in particular. If you are looking for a father/child activity, here are some ideas.
Make something together
One great way to create a memorable Father’s Day is by making something. Your kids can get together and work on a project like a painted mug if dad loves coffee, planting a garden or building a birdhouse if dad loves his yard, or maybe some scale models if dad has a favorite super hero, car, period in history, or anything else they make models for! Maybe dad wants to participate too. It can all be one big family activity.
Create a card
To stay on the theme of making something, go ahead a give dad a handmade card. Some of the best gifts are the ones that took the most time, effort, and love to put together. What would be more appropriate for a Father’s Day card than one with a pun or dad-joke? Do you have a fin-tastic dad who loves to go fishing? The cards practically write themselves! You can use a quick internet search to gain some inspiration too.
Do an activity
Find something activity-based to do as well. The family could make dad’s favorite breakfast. The afternoon could be filed with board games, sports, quality time in the park, or a walk around the mall followed by a movie. Get moving with each other. Do something that makes you talk to one another. Experience something together.
While doing all this, it’s important to remember why we are celebrating. Father’s Day is a special time that can bring families together. It gives you the opportunity to show and to tell your family that you love them. When you can do something out of the ordinary on a holiday like Mother’s Day or Father’s Day, it really makes the event stand out in everyone’s mind.
Creating happy memories should be a goal of every family. It’s definitely something we recommend here at Family Builders.
